What is Permanent Makeup?

Glo Laser & Beauty can provide you with a very convenient “wash and wear face” by offering you permanent make-up! Permanent make-up is the process of applying pigment to the skin in a safe and effective way. Permanent make-up includes cosmetic enhancements such as permanent eyeliner, eyebrow, lip colour/liner and microblading.

How does getting Permanent Makeup work?

The procedure for these permanent cosmetic procedures is performed by using an Embroidery Pen or a Rotary Machine. It is crucial for you to book a free consultation with your therapist in order to discuss the pigment colour that will best suit you. Your therapist will inform you about the procedure and draw the shape before the application.

PROCEDURE:

Eyebrows:

Micro-pigmentation can be used to improve and enhance eyebrows that are naturally too light, too thin, non-existent caused by chemotherapy, alopecia or hair thinning with growing older.

As previously mentioned, a consultation before your treatment is a must. Before this treatment, your technician will ask you to come with your daily make-up to provide a guideline for the technician to see how you prefer your brows to look on a normal day. You are allowed to bring along a picture as a reference for the eyebrow design you desire to have.

As discomfort during the treatment may occur, an anesthetic is applied before and during the treatment to the treated area with the aim to reduce discomfort.

As soon as the anaesthetic has taken effect, the technician will draw an eyebrow shape to your (the client’s) specification combined with the technician’s experience which will best suit your facial shape. The various colours that the technician will make use of will be communicated to you (the client) in order to make sure all preferences are met in accordance to your specific skin tone.

You will be given the opportunity by your technician to approve the design before the cosmetic permanent makeup commences.

More anaesthetics will be applied to the treatment area to further reduce any discomfort that may occur and as soon as the procedure is done, the client will be provided with an aftercare regime as well as with an ointment to help with the healing process.

You might experience that your permanent makeup is very dark and prominent within the 3-5 days of it being done, which is perfectly normal. As your eyebrows heal, it will lighten to a beautiful natural-looking colour allowing you to have a “wash and wear face”. You might also experience that your eyebrows fade after a while, but don’t stress – the pigment still needs to surface – so they will be back, back for good!

A follow-up treatment in 6-12 weeks is necessary in order to make sure the treated area has healed and allow your technician to perfect your eyebrow design.

Eye Liner:

If you always have panda-eyes because of your eyeliner smudging, or have trouble winging that perfect line or have allergic reactions to some makeup, then permanent eyeliner is the perfect cosmetic procedure for you.

This procedure will assist in defining and accentuating your eyes, making your lashes appear denser and thicker. There are various ways in which eyeliner can be applied with regards to style and colour. Your facial features and age group will affect the style, colour and technique to be used and will be decided with the input of your experienced technician.

You have the option of applying eyeliner on either your upper lid or lower lid or even on both of your eyelids. If you are looking to lift your eye and make it appear more defined and larger, having the upper lid done is ideal. To have this “wash & wear face” will make life so much easier when it comes to activities like running, swimming or even going to the gym. No more panda-eyes!

After your free consultation with your therapist, you can make your booking for your treatment. In order to reduce discomfort during the procedure, a pre-procedure anesthetic is applied. Just for peace of mind, all accessories that will be used during the treatment are pre-packaged and one time useable. A new sterilized needle is opened and assembled into the device in front of you for the procedure to begin.

After the procedure, the therapist will provide you (the client) with an aftercare regime as well as an ointment in order to help with the healing process.

Lip Liner:

Do you want defined and correct uneven lips to get that full appearance? Having a natural-appearing lip liner will help prevent lipstick from bleeding and it can also reduce the appearance of wrinkles, BONUS right!?

You might even want permanent lip colour – Glo Laser & Beauty can assist you! We offer permanent full lip colour with the natural or vivid colour of your choice. This treatment is very convenient as you can wear your permanent lip colour just as it is or you can add a different lipstick colour on top of it for those special occasions every now and then.

At Glo Laser & Beauty we recommend you to rather have a full lip liner procedure done than just the lip liner. But hey, we can’t make up your mind. It is just that if the colour does not compliment your skin tone, you will have a very definite line around your lips which might look artificial. We will recommend you to rather choose a natural colour if you decide to only do a lip liner. If you have small lips, lip liner will only make your lips look even smaller and therefore we will again recommend you to rather have the full lip procedure done. Your true lip colour will show after 6 weeks and last a lifetime.

Glo Laser & Beauty offer free consultations and we encourage you to take advantage of it in order to get the perfect lips! The shape and colour of the natural lips are very unpredictable and during the consultation, your therapist will discuss the desired look as well as the probability of success of achieving your look with permanent cosmetic pigments and techniques.

Once you have finally convinced yourself to do this treatment, give Glo Laser & Beauty a call and please do not be offended when you are asked whether you have ever had a fever blister or cold sore on your lips before. This is simply because we want to provide you with the necessary medication if you are prone to these conditions. You will then need to take the necessary medication within 5 days prior to your treatment as well as 5 days after your treatment.

Once you and your therapist have agreed to go forward with the treatment, she will most likely suggest you schedule your appointment during a time where you do not have an important event coming up.

We recommend you to visit a dentist prior to your treatment for either a topical pre-procedure anaesthetic or an oral nerve block (an injection) as this will result in numbing the entire lip for more or less 3 hours. Once your lips are numb, your therapist will draw a lip liner before the permanent lip colouring will start. Just for peace of mind, all accessories that will be used during the treatment are pre-packaged and one time useable. A new sterilized needle will be opened and assembled into the device for the procedure to begin.

The colour of your permanent lip liner will appear very vibrant right after the treatment, nothing to worry about as this is perfectly normal! A few days after the treatment, the outer layer of the permanent lip liner will start to exfoliate. The process of exfoliation can be inconsistent on the inside of the lips, but it is very important to not pick at those parts of the lip that have started to the exfoliation process already as it will disturb the healing process.

A follow up treatment in 6-8 weeks is necessary in order to make sure the treated area has healed and allow your technician to perfect your lip liner.

Most of the residual lip tattooing will be exfoliated after more or less one week after the treatment. Your lips will be more tender and remain that way for the next few weeks following your treatment. It is therefore recommended to wait 6-8 weeks before you visit Glo Laser & Beauty for your follow-up treatment. In this 6-8 weeks, you will experience a “frosty” appearance for a few days now and then.

When your body is warm, your lips will appear more vibrant and when your body is cool, your lips will appear duller. Before you visit us for your follow-up appointment, your lip colour would have settled in and will be a true reflection of the final colour that resulted from the permanent makeup procedure. Adjustments of your final colour and design will be discussed with your therapist at your follow-up treatment before the procedure, and appropriate adjustments will be made as needed.
